Slow Cooker French Onion Soup

We all want easy, healthy, and delicious meals and for me as a busy mom of 4 the slow cooker is a go-to.

I love the flavour of this simple but savoury soup. French onion soup isn't something you come across often but with this recipe you can whip it up for yourself and your family easily.

  • 4 tbsp olive oil

  • 3 onions

  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar

  • 2 tbsp while wheat flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 4 cups broth

  • 1/2 cup white wine (optional)

  • Slices of whole grain baguette

  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

  1. HEAT oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onions and cook covered until soft. Add sugar and salt. Cook uncovered 15 more minutes. Stir in flour and cook 3 more minutes.

  2. STIR onion mixture, broth, and white wine in slow cooker

  3. COVER and cook on low 6 to 8 hours

  4. TOAST baguette slices and sprinkle with cheese.

  5. SERVE soup topped with toast

  6. ENJOY!!
