I purchased the Fixate Cookbook and I’m so glad I did!
I’m generally a person who is not crazy about cooking, I have the staples that I rotate … meatloaf, potatoes and green salad, BBQ or baked chicken, corn on the cob and greek salad, pork chops, rice and veggies …nothing too exciting. I have purchased cookbooks in the past, tried a couple recipes and then they collect dust on a shelf in my house. That is NOT the case with Fixate!
Since purchasing it only a few weeks ago I have made 14 different recipes!!
Here is what I have tried:
Creamy Tomato Basil Soup - This is absolutely delicious…I loved it! Tasted like a fancy restaurant soup, and so so so much better than my regular salty Campbell’s Tomato Soup from a can!

Easy Chicken Noodle Soup - Also super yummy and easy to throw together.
Red Fruit Salad - Pretty sure I messed up on the jicama ingredient for this, I just got a regular yam…and that wasn’t all that appetizing … I would make it again properly though as it definitely had potential apart from my mess up!
Grandma’s Tomato Sauce - I cooked with red wine for the first time ever and boy did it pay off! This sauce is delectable…and the wonderful thing about it is it’s a base for many other recipes in the book…so you don’t have to go out and buy ingredients every time you make something…one thing I really love about Fixate!
Healthy French Toast - I’ve always been a big fan of Aunt Jemima Syrup and not big on maple syrup..this recipe changed that for me! The ground cinnamon really adds to the flavour of the toast, I loved it and so did my 1 year old son. We will have this over and over!

Portabello Mushroom and Goat Cheese Omelet - I did a variation of this as I don’t like mushrooms…Red bell peppers and grated parmesan cheese. Before this recipe I always cooked my veggies after my eggs all together…it is so much better cooking the veggies first and then adding them to the egg right before it sets…maybe most people know that already, but I didn’t! The other wonderful thing about this book is the variations Autumn suggests … so you can make the same recipe but switch it up depending on your preferences!

Vegetable Egg Cups - Cook these at the beginning of the week and you are set to go for breakfast, something I think will come in handy when I return to work in September. They are best with salsa in my opinion as they’re a bit bland without…but you could probably add some herbs and spices to kick it up a notch!

Easy Pizza - It’s all in the name, so simple to make and so delicious … and WAY healthier than ordering in. LOVE it!

Italian Meatballs with Grandma’s Tomato Sauce - My first time making meatballs ever and they turned out perfectly. This one is a fan favourite in my house. My son Grant can’t get enough of them!

Macaroni and Cheese with Broccoli and Chicken - I didn’t mind this, but it was not my favourite recipe. Next time I might try one of the variations!
Steak Fajitas - These are so GOOD! I just bought stir fry steak from the grocery store so this recipe was quick and easy…and still healthy! BONUS!

Turkey Chili - I’ve already made this a few times, and it’s wonderful. I substituted low sodium vegetable broth for the red wine it calls for and it turned out great!

Zoodels (Zucchini Pasta) - Easy, quick and super healthy. I have to admit I was skeptical as I really love my pasta, but the zoodles are awesome! I even went out and bought myself a spiralizer for next time so I don’t have to take as much time using a veggie peeler!
Pumpkin Muffins with Maple Cream Cheese - I was super excited about these but they were my first Fixate Fail! I used rice flour instead of almond flour so I’m not sure if that was the issue…but these muffins turned out like hockey pucks! For some crazy reason my son still loves them (which made me feel better) and they make good dog treats, lol! I do think I will try making them again with almond flour…the maple cream cheese that goes in the middle is yummy!

I can’t wait to try out more recipes … Chicken Stuffed Bell Peppers is next on my list!
